Key People

Tarina McKenzie

Class Facilitator

Hi there, I’m Tarina and I’ve been passionate about dancing, acting, nature, music and meeting people from all walks of life for as long as I can remember. I believe that we can all learn from each other and be open to always learning, accepting and personal growth!

Having completed a foundation course in Dance therapy, gaining a White Belt in Nia Dance and with a background in volunteering roles within StarJam, Disabled Surfing NZ, Salvation Army, and other community organisations, I feel I bring a varied and diverse range of skills & qualifications.

Some of my interests include hosting community expressive dance events and facilitating caregiver retreats through my business Heart Flow. We have three children, two of them with different neurological conditions and I know first-hand the importance of us all finding our own place in the world and to find ways to build our self esteem!

I’m very passionate about making sure everyone is given the opportunity to be able to express themselves in a safe and inclusive space and I love to encourage people to be the best version of themselves. I’m very excited about my new role with the Glass Ceiling Arts Collective team, working alongside Katrina and getting to know the students and parents/caregivers.

Katrina Bothwell

Tutor

Kia ora, I am Katrina.

I enjoy working in the disability field, having 3 different roles in the community across Tauranga.

I absolutely love dance and drama, studying them as options in University while getting myself a teaching degree. While studying I began tutoring a variety of dance workshops and 8 years later am still finding new favourite songs. I've also entered the 48 hour film competition twice now, 3rd time a charm to get out of the heats! You may see me volunteering at the Historic Village Community Cinema in my spare time or on the road riding my motorcycle.

I'm a firm believer in doing something you love even if you're not perfect, just wait til you hear me sing!
