The Badger Story

The Badger

Welcome to The Badger Story, a multi-sensory theatre experience for the whole family to enjoy in the home. It’s a tale of friendship, diversity and acceptance, and an encounter with a badger.

The Badger Story is quite special, as it can be enjoyed by pretty much everyone. It has been made to provide access to the theatre for diverse audiences, especially people with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), and high and complex needs. The Badger Story is a theatre experience to share, and so we encourage you to turn your home, school classroom, supported living environment, care home, or hospital room into your very own theatre when watching The Badger Story.

The narrative in The Badger Story is presented as a film over the internet. However, this is a multi-sensory theatre experience, and therefore there are lots of little breaks in the film where the audience is encouraged to explore ‘sensory moments’; sensory moments which draw on the 6 senses: smell, touch, taste, hearing, seeing and proprioception.

Proprioception is the sense that tells the body where it is in space. It’s very important to the brain, as it plays a significant role in self- regulation, co-ordination, posture, body awareness, the ability to focus and speech.

Please watch the Instruction Video (and/or read the Downloadable Instructions) in the days prior to watching The Badger Story, as they describe the props which you will need to make this a proper and grand theatre experience. (Technical note: please be aware that The Badger Story has been set up to autoplay. Some browsers, however, do not allow autoplay and so you may need to click the Play button in the green control panel in the bottom right of your screen.)

Enjoy!

Kind Regards
